KJP : Band "Pop" Paling Progresif Saat Ini

Saya datang ke toko CD langganan tadinya untuk mencari album Efek Rumah Kaca, kelompok Indie Label yang lagi ‘in’ dan kerap jadi buah bibir di sekolah-sekolah menengah. Sempat juga saya lihat profil mereka di majalah indie, Ripple, dan langsung menduga pasti ada sesuatu yang istimewa pada musik mereka. Betapa tidak, tak satupun personil Efek Rumah Kaca yang bisa dibilang rupawan, waktu menyimak profil mereka di Ripple. Pastilah ada sesuatu yang istimewa dari musik mereka, sehingga adik-adik saya, adik-adik kawan, sampai anak-anak mahasiswa begitu menggandrungi kelompok ini. Berdasarkan pengalaman, musisi-musisi dengan penampilan bersahaja dan tampang cukupan, biasanya memiliki musik yang istimewa kalau sampai banyak anak muda yang mengidolakannya.

Sesampainya di toko CD, pemilik toko kenalan saya malah menawarkan kelompok musik indie yang lain. “Efek Rumah Kaca boleh didengar belakangan,” kata dia,”… kalau untuk sekarang sebaiknya you enggak boleh ketinggalan dengan kelompok musik ya…

Conducted over the course of the last year in places like Palm Beach, Fla., and Cologne, Germany, this is the most comprehensive interview Mick Jagger has ever given.

Being interviewed is one of Mick Jagger's least favorite pastimes, a necessity that accompanies his career. A typical session with a journalist lasts 20 minutes. His life has been public for so long, he sees little need to explain or justify himself and has everything to be gained by holding on to what privacy he has — such as the privacy of his thinking — as well as the value of a little mystery.

Nonetheless, after a 25-year professional and personal friendship, during which Mick and I have often discussed the private affairs of his life and the band, I suggested doing a long interview. He agreed, and we proceeded on the basis of trust and familiarity.
